“From the Editor, Zohe:
What I love most about this wedding is how Kelsey and Grant truly embraced Santa Barbara — not just as a backdrop, but as a character in their celebration. From the wine tasting tour to the sunset cruise and an intimate garden ceremony at Simpson House, every element felt like a love letter to this place we call home. Their wedding weekend gave guests a little bit of everything: ocean, wine country, historic charm, and vibrant design — all tied together with warmth, color, and intention. It's a beautiful reminder that a destination wedding doesn’t have to be far away… sometimes it’s right here, in the magic of Santa Barbara.
From Erin Marton Photography:
Kelsey and Grant hosted a three day summer wedding extravaganza punctuated by color, playful design and carefully curated meals to introduce their loved ones to the romance of Santa Barbara.
In their words: "We started dating in 2014, got engaged in November 2019, and quickly planned a wedding that was even more quickly derailed by COVID. Since then, we put our wedding plans on pause while life took over. In the years since, we’ve moved 3 times, changed jobs, and most recently had our beautiful daughter Olive. We’re finally married, and it was a complete joy to celebrate our relationship and all the amazing friends and family who helped us get to this point. We planned a wedding weekend in Santa Barbara with a destination wedding feel. Our original wedding was going to be in Oaxaca before COVID happened, so we wanted to recreate that same vibrant, colorful experience for our guests."
To celebrate, K&G kicked off the weekend with a walking tour of local Santa Barbara bars (starting with Carr Winery, then Third Window Brewery & Potok Wines, and finally a stop at Test Pilot) before welcoming guests with a sunset boat cruise aboard the Azure Seas off Stearns Wharf. Dolphins swam alongside the boat as guests toasted with Aperol spritzs at sunset.
On day two, Kelsey and Grant hosted a rehearsal dinner and pop-up movie night (Princess Bride was the film of choice!) at their wedding venue, The Simpson House. This charming, private boutique hotel was the perfect size for the couple, their family, and the wedding party to entirely take over the property for the weekend. The in-house catering and wine selection gave guests a taste of Santa Barbara summer alongside the garden party aesthetic.
The wedding day involved a lighthearted yet sincere Jewish ceremony at Simpson House officiated by the groom's sibling and their spouse. Guests mingled and enjoyed fresh oysters and champagne for cocktail hour before walking a few short blocks over to Villa & Vine for the al fresco dinner reception.
Among other details, Kelsey and Grant had a live watercolor artist on site who also designed all the signage, menus, and invitations. Paired with colorful flowers, patterned linens, and of course the draping vines all over the courtyard, Kelsey and Grant truly brought a taste of Oaxaca to Santa Barbara.”
