Our Sanitation Standards

At Emily Lynn & Co., cleanliness and sanitation aren't an afterthought, they're a baseline requirement for every artist on our team. Every hair stylist and makeup artist we hire is held to the highest standards of hygiene, following all state board guidelines and maintaining practices that go above and beyond what's required. This isn't new for us. These protocols have been part of how we work for our entire careers, and every artist who joins our team is vetted and trained to uphold them without exception.

We want you to feel completely comfortable from the moment we set up to the moment we pack out. Here's exactly how we work:

Makeup Sanitation

  • Hands are washed thoroughly with soap and water, and hand sanitizer is used before and between each client.

  • We use only EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectants.

  • Each client receives a freshly cleaned set of brushes used only for their service. After use, all brushes are thoroughly washed with soap and water, then sanitized with brush sanitizing spray or 70% isopropyl alcohol, and stored in airtight, enclosed containers.

  • Palettes are used for all cream products to ensure zero contact between the product and the client's skin or brushes. Palettes are cleaned and disinfected with 70% isopropyl alcohol before and after every use.

  • All pressed powder products are sanitized between clients using C3, Beauty So Clean, 70% isopropyl alcohol, or the artist's chosen hospital-grade disinfectant.

  • Single-use applicators — including mascara wands, sponges, and lip applicators — are used once per client and immediately disposed of.

Hair Sanitation

  • All combs, brushes, and tools that come in contact with a client's hair are sanitized with soap and water or ShipShape and disinfected with Barbicide before and after every use.

Workspace Sanitation

  • All workspace surfaces, makeup chairs, handheld mirrors, and anything a client may come in contact with are disinfected using Barbicide spray or 70% isopropyl alcohol.

  • Appropriate PPE is worn when applicable, based on the most current city and county health regulations relating to covid-19.

A Note on Sterilization

Sterilization refers to the complete destruction of all microbial life and is rarely required in the professional beauty industry. That said, we do use UV-C light and ozone sterilization on occasion as an added layer of protection when possible.
